  Damola Ajidahun

  • Introduction: South Carolina made waves on early signing day by flipping four-star offensive lineman Damola Ajidahun from Georgia Tech. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 280 pounds, Ajidahun is the first guy you want stepping off the bus. He brings a rare blend of physical attributes that have made him a standout offensive lineman and is well known for his versatility.  Ranked as the No. 201 overall prospect in the country and the No. 23 offensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite. This commitment marked a significant victory on the recruiting trail for the Gamecocks and truly came at the buzzer. He’s a competitor in all aspects of his life; his former Head Coach Cam Jones praises him saying “To get to that next level, you have to have that mindset, and he’s got it. He attacks every single day not just practice, but film review, weight room and in the classroom. He works to be the best version of himself every single day.” As he continues to develop under the guidance of Coach Teasley and the strength and conditioning staff, Ajidahun’s ceiling is incredibly high.

  • Recruitment:  Ajidahun's recruitment was a fierce battle, with both Georgia and Georgia Tech vying for his commitment as top priorities throughout the cycle. Initially pledging to the Yellow Jackets in August, his decision only intensified South Carolina’s resolve to bring him to Columbia. Central to this effort was Coach Lonnie Teasley, whose player-first approach helped establish a bond that transcended the typical coach-player relationship. Ajidahun himself reflected on their connection, saying, "I feel like Coach Teasley, you can look at him as a brother kind of person. It’s like I’m just speaking to someone that I’ve known for a long time." The Gamecocks’ strategy went beyond football alone. They addressed his athletic, personal, and academic goals, ensuring that both he and his family recognized South Carolina as the ideal place for his growth. He fits in perfectly with what we are trying to do on offense and was 1 of only 2 offensive linemen in this class. The promise of immediate playing time and an environment designed to accelerate his development led Ajidahun to ultimately choose the Gamecocks, making them one of the biggest winners of Signing Day.

  • Strength And Skills: A player who truly embodies the term "total package," as described by his former coach. His physical attributes are undoubtedly impressive but it is his exceptional athleticism that sets him apart. For a player of his size, he moves with remarkable fluidity, a trait rarely seen in offensive linemen. His ability to pull and reach the outside with quick, efficient footwork showcases his versatility. Movements are smooth and deliberate, and his ability to get to his designated spots demonstrates an understanding of the timing required in offensive line play. What makes him even more valuable is his flexibility. Rather than being confined to one position, his skill set allows him to play multiple spots along the offensive line. Whether at left or right tackle, or even as a guard, he can adapt to the needs of the team. This provides a unique advantage for South Carolina, giving them the ability to deploy him wherever his skills will have the most impact. His long arms add to his effectiveness in pass protection, allowing him to maintain leverage and shield defenders from getting to the quarterback. This is crucial in the SEC, where pass protection is an art form.  Also well known for his relentless, tenacious blocking. He is a player who doesn’t just finish plays he dominates them. Delivering pancake blocks and maintaining relentless pressure on defenders through the whistle (Micheal Oher style).
